[Women's Track] LADY BULLDOGS FINISHED FIFTEENTH AT EMORY INVITATIONAL

Atlanta, GA. – Tennessee Wesleyan women's track and field team opened up the outdoor season last weekend (Mar. 20th-21st) at the Emory University Invitational. The women finished fifteenth overall. In total, the women set six new school records this past weekend.

Freshman Rachel Lawhorn turned in stellar performances and set three of the six new school records. Her first school record came in the shot put, where Lawhorn threw a mark of 37'2.5" (11.34m) to finish fourteenth overall. The second record came in the discus, with throwing a mark of 128'2" (39.07m) to finish fourth overall. Her final school record came in the javelin, with a mark of 83'4" (25.40m) to finish twenty-second overall.

The distance women also had great performances last weekend. The 4x800m relay team of junior Robbiccaa Williams, freshman Hannah Rhodes, freshman Karlie Yinger, and sophomore Leah Chance set a school record with a time of 9:45.15. They finished third overall in the event. Williams then set a new school record in the 5,000m race where she finished third overall with a time of 18:17.79. Finally, junior Brooklyn Girdley set a new school record in the 10,000m race.

The 4x100m relay team also turned in a top-5 performance. The team finished fifth overall with a time of 48.80. The relay team consisted of sophomore Alexus Lyons, junior Kiana Froedden, junior Beth Sexton, and junior Justina Jones.

The Lady Bulldogs continue their outdoor season this weekend at the Shorter Invitational at Shorter University.
