Vanderbilt head coach Steve Keith was named the South Region Coach of the Year on Tuesday after he guided the Commodores to their second straight Region championship last week.

The Vanderbilt women's XC team won its second consecutive South Region championship and earned its fifth straight berth to NCAA Nationals.

The Vanderbilt women will be looking to defend their South Region title after winning the championship last November for the first time in program history.

Pietrzyk, the Commodores' standout from Malibu, Calif., has paced the team in every meet this season, and she secured freshman honors two weeks ago at the SEC Champinships.

Freshman Caroline Pietrzyk earned SEC Freshman of the Year award after capturing third place at the SEC Championships.

Vanderbilt's women and men travel to College Station, Texas, on Friday to face a deep and impressive field at the SEC Championships.
