Cross country performs well at NCAA South Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Lipscomb cross country squad closed out its season on Friday morning as the Bisons competed at the NCAA Division I South Regionals in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Lady Bisons finished ninth out of a competitive 30-team field with a team point total of 279.

Junior Kacey Kemper led the way for the Lady Bisons, placing 38th out of a field of 212 runners with a time of 21:15.6.

Senior Barbara Lee Ball was close behind, finishing 43rd with a time of 21:21.9 in her last collegiate cross country race.

Sophomore Bridgette Doucet (21:29.7) and freshman Courtney Brenner (21:55.0) were up next for Lipscomb, taking 50th and 74th, respectively.

Junior Avery Franklin rounded out Lipscomb’s top five with a time of 22:15.4 as she came in 91st.

Senior Sally Larson was also running in her final cross country meet as a Bison. She placed 103rd with a mark of 22:27.2.

On the men’s side, Lipscomb placed 13th out of 21 squads with a team point total of 386, finishing above SEC schools such as Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.

Sophomore Brent Leber led the way for the Bisons with a time of 31:53.7 to finish 49th out of 157 runners.

Freshmen Kyle Johnson (32:30.1) and Zach Israel (32:45.9) were next up for the Bisons, taking 71st and 84th place.

Junior Sam Remington (33:10.0) and sophomore Andrew Ayers (33:11.9) closed out Lipscomb's top five, finishing 105th and 107th respectively.
