Track and field to open indoor season at VanderbiltPublished by
NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb track and field squad will be getting an early start to its indoor campaign on Saturday as the Bisons are set to compete close to home in the Vanderbilt Opener Invitational. The meet will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and will feature 37 Bisons across several events getting their first action in the Purple and Gold for the year. Lipscomb is bringing back several Indoor All-Conference performers from the 2015-16 season, including: seniors Wayne Newman, Katie Bianchini, and Christian Freeman, juniors Ryan Speer and Kacey Kemper, and sophomore Brooke Kingma. Several local schools will be participating in the meet: Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State, “Battle of the Boulevard” rival Belmont, Austin Peay, Memphis, Trevecca, Tennessee Tech, Louisville, Murray State, and Western Kentucky.
