[Men's Cross Country] BULLDOGS COMPETE AT AAC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Knoxville, TN – On a rainy Saturday (Nov. 7th) morning, the Bulldogs competed at the 2015 AAC Cross Country Conference Championships at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville, Tenn. Senior Jacob Simmons led the Bulldogs to a fourth place team finish and finished fifth individually in the race.

Simmons ran a season's best time at the meet, crossing the line in 25:45. Simmons was named to the AAC All-Conference Team, and honor awarded to the top 10 finishers.

The Bulldogs scored a team total of 99 points. Milligan College won the meet with a team total of 45 points. Truett-McConnell College and Montreat College finished second and third in team standing with 75 and 81 points, respectively.

Freshman Christopher Gabez also had an outstanding day for the Bulldogs, finishing eighth overall with a time of 26:19. Gabez was also named to the AAC All-Conference Team in addition to being named to the AAC All-Freshman Team, an honor awarded to the top seven freshman finishers.

Freshman Will Vineyard was the next finisher for the Bulldogs, crossing the line in 27:35 for a 23rd overall finish. Junior Tim Murphy was the next scorer for the team, finishing 32nd overall with a time of 28:07. Rounding out the scoring was freshman Dakota Ackerman. Ackerman finished 34th overall with a time of 28:13.

The NAIA National Championship Meet will be on November 21th at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. The men's race is set to go off at 10:30am EDT.
